Executive Profiles

John F. Possumato

John F. Possumato, Esq.

Founder & CEO

A serial entrepreneur, Possumato has over 20 years experience founding and growing automotive and technology related businesses. A proven visionary, Possumato pioneered online "upstream remarketing" (offering and selling commercial fleet vehicles online, before turn-in, to drivers, employees, and affinity groups), in the fleet & leasing industry over five years ago. He is credited with being the first to conceive and develop a full functioning, effective upstream remarketing system for fleet lessors, corporate users, and daily rental companies, with the launch of Driveitaway, the first upstream remarketing online automotive redistribution process and platform, which transformed the redistribution of automotive fleet vehicles in the industry, as the practice has since been adopted by every major vehicle auction and remarketing institution in the nation.

Prior to Driveitaway, Possumato founded and led Wired Business, one of the first commercial real estate focused high speed Internet distribution companies in the telecommunications service industry, provided venture funding by Norwest Venture Partners and Dolphin Equity Partners. Possumato founded Instruction, Training and Design, Inc. (ITD) in the mid-nineties to identify the sales opportunities of small commercial fleet sales for automotive retailers, and, as a consultant, created the small commercial fleet dealer sales and marketing programs for Ford Motor Company, General Motors and Jaguar Cars. Possumato owned and operated a Chrysler dealership and was recognized by the Wharton Small Business Development Center for transforming it from a small, single-point store, into the second fastest-growing small business in the State of New Jersey, and the third largest fleet dealer in the nation in 1990, increasing annual sales from $1.6 million to over $50 million in a 36 month period, and selling more than 5,700 new Chrysler vehicles in a single year. Possumato is a former Vice President of regional stock brokerage Janney Montgomery Scott and founded the firm’s currency options trading division, JMS Currency Executions.

Possumato holds a J.D. from the Law School at the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. in Economics, magna cum laude, from the Wharton School. He is a Wharton Entrepreneur in residence, has served as counsel on the Board of Directors of the Automotive Fleet and Leasing Association since 1988, and is a prior Director of the International Automotive Remarketers Alliance.
